We used to cram as many Zoners we could into one car or another. We always felt bad that some had to stay home. My friend Jacqii and I were stallworths and it was our home on the weekends. I’ve been to many ‘clubs’ in Toronto but The Twilight Zone has never been surpassed. The music was always great but it came down to the people. Staff and fellow dancers made the difference to me.

Missed that one! But have many memories including doing a shoot there with Mario Testino during the day. The weekend energy was intense and there has never been a better sound experience since. All you needed was a good joint, prolific then Sensimilla preferably, to trip on the mega bass and super chilled vibe! I did anyhow… missssssssssssssssssssssss it!

From Pariah on Wednesdays with Joey and Adam Rayfield to Saturdays with Dj Siobhan…can still remember Bauhaus to Susie and the Banshees ….. loved it all. Onto the Wave of Talk Talk and Kate Bush on to Marshall Jefferson and Frankie Knuckles coming to play at Zone, Memories of tunes and people who some are lifelong friends all brought together for the music and atmosphere of love and friendship. We all at one time had the walk of shame coming out and the sun was shining on us. Fun, memories an atosphere which was never duplicated, and trust we tried to …. ahead of its time, never forgotten. The Twilight Zone was a forerunner just the most amazing club. Mixing the latest music from London , New York, west coast- disco – hip hop, funk. In the chill out areas you hear cool movie tracks from Diva and Betty Blue. Aspiring Designer, artists , fashionistas mixed with a cool Toronto club crowd. There was a lot of young European designers and photographers floating around Spading in the 80′s that were TZ regulars. I was one of them from London. Great Music. great crowd. Great memories.

My God! The Zone was home for me and my boys from 1986 till the doors closed. 4 young 16/17 year olds heading downtown from the ‘burbs of Pickering..checking out Now and eye magazine, trying to find a club. Find this hole in the wall club on Richmond St. in the garment district. Walk through the front doors..up the stairway to heaven, and our lives changed in that moment. The dancefloor, the music, the sound, and the people! Dear Lord, the people! Being a suburban teen from Pickering, i had little to no knowledge about gay people..but everyone was cool..enjoying the live of house music. Sweating till our clothes were drenched..exhausted, drained, but excited to go back the next Saturday night.we crawled out of there with the sun coming up. We had just come “home”! We told all our friends about this INSANE club downtown. We all travelled to the Zone every Saturday night/special event that was going on. The Zone is where we all started drinking. My God, i miss that place! We all shed a tear when it was shut downtown. LONG LIVE THE ZONE!!
